How Lady Ba Got Her Name

Lady Ba was adopted from the Roice Hurst Humane Society in spring 2004. At that time, her name was called Sheba.

Her new mom thought this was a fine name, but you have to admit, there are many other kitties named Sheba, but not so many quite as glorious as our Lady!

The Lady's new mother also was a big fan of Mahatma Gandhi of India, and studied his life and times. Hence we learned that Mr. Gandhi's wife was named Kasturba. He called her Ba for short.

The Lady Kasturba must have been very saintly to deal with a saint like Gandhi for a husband. Though he had some great philosophical ideas, we suspect that it must have made for a very interesting, shall we say, family life.

The White Feline Sheba was also very saintly with us when we were less than perfect and working out our ideas in our own lives. Her mom began calling her Ba after Gandhi's wife, and surely the great white Lady is a saint at least, and perhaps more, for we suspect she is an incarnation of the Great Goddess herself.

The Lady Ba also had many other names which we have delineated elsewhere. Nowadays she is known as the Celestial Lady Ba, as she gazes down upon her family from a celestial abode.

The Many Names of Lady Ba

We enjoy reading the blog from Caesar and Princess's Happy Place. Recently, the beautiful Caesar passed away, and along with so many other kitties in the blogosphere we mourn his absence.

Princess has continued to blog, sharing fond memories of her wonderful brother. We enjoy her writing, and we also love to see the pictures. Princess happens to look very much like our own dear departed Lady Ba.

Princess says that Caesar had many different names. The Lady Ba also had a variety of names and titles, some of which we will post here for the benefit of those who would like to request her blessings from the celestial realm!

Names of the Lady Ba

Sheba
Ba
The Great BaBoozler
Ba Ninny
Nin Mints

Bazen-Leibenz

In a later post, we'll explain how the Lady Ba received her most well-known name.

Noelle's Little Paws

When Princess Noelle joined our household just after Christmas, we weren't sure what color her socks were! She had one on each foot, but were they silver or white!

It appeared that Our Lady's paws were silver-grey, a soft moon-like color. But she had been wandering around outside, in the mud and dirty, melting snow. Her luxurious long hair was full of mats, which it took her new Mom a couple of weeks to remove. It made us all wonder if those paws were just dirty? And maybe they would be white underneath that grey?

Mom tried washing her little paws, not wanting to give her a full bath in the cold winter. This didn't seem to do much to remove the grey color, but Mom said she could see that there was grease in her fur. She trimmed out what she could, which made little Noelle's paws look funny for a while... but there was indeed white underneath!

Now you can look at her little paws and see that they are indeed white!

What is this stinky stuff?

One reader, Mark from Kansas City, has kindly read our BaLog and offered some comments. He suggests that, when it comes to Stinky Business That Belongs In The Litterbox, we use some word other than "poopy".

"It just doesn't seem dignified," Mark lamented, "when you're referring to the Exalted Lady Ba, who is worshipped by so many of us, and the Princess Noelle, to talk about their 'poopy'. Couldn't you use some other word? How about 'stool'?"

We've considered the matter, and very much appreciate Mark's point of view, along with his great respect for the Saintly Lady Ba. However, we just can't get over our own personal conviction that a Stool is something you sit on, usually when you sidle up to a Bar.

Another friend, Deacon Rob from the Senior Cat Ministry, suggests "poo" as an alternative. We're going to give this a try next time we have to deal with something of this nature.

Until then, if you'd like to share your opinion on proper word-ettiquette for the #2 stuff that comes from even the saintliest cats, please leave a comment!

More pills, oh no!

Meow and greetings from the Princess Noelle!

I've been a naughty girl, pooping on the floor. But my new mom can't bring herself to be upset with me... I'm so old and saintly! So Mom moved the litter boxes around so I'll have an easier time getting to them.

We kitties have a wonderful family doctor; Saint Paul The Righteous Healer Of Lady Ba is what my mom calls him. He says I don't have any parasites or anything like that, but gave some medicine to help make my poop firmer. That way I'll have more time to get to the litterbox before it comes out on the floor!

But now Mom is shoving more pills down my throat - yikes! I hate pills! And I already have to take Tagamet pills twice a day. It's a good thing I'm so saintly - and don't have many teeth - or I'd probably bite her fingers.

Poopy-time

Hi there folks, I am the "Human Bean" mom to the Blessed Lady Ba and her feline family! I'll be helping the kitties with this blog.

The last few days have been kinda poopy for us. Someone has been laying a poopy in the living room, right in front of the front door... this has happened a couple of times and it is quite inconvenient, to say the least.

Our kitties do not normally poop outside the box, so I knew something was amiss. Finally I was able to catch Princess Noelle in the act, grabbed her up, and placed her in the litter box. The poopy came right out, and hoboy was it runny and stinky! There was a little blood in there too, so I've taken it to the veterinarian for a lab test.

I think that if we can get this diarrhea under control, Noelle can be persuaded to return to the box to do her business. It's gotta be tough when the poor kitty has to go so badly. So I can't bring myself to chastise her for this... we'll get any health issues squared away and maybe some meds for this diarrhea. Then we'll work on getting the poop into the box.

For those who are wondering how we clean up this stinky mess, I prefer "Nature's Miracle" orange formula. Cats don't care much for the smell of orange, so I'm hoping it will discourage her from hanging around that area to do her poopy.

We'll post again later when results come in from the lab.

Lady Ba introduces Princess Noelle

Lady Ba begins her first blog from the celestial realm. She would like to introduce her friend, Princess Noelle, who is also very saintly. Lady Ba has kindly arranged for Noelle to join her earthly home, to comfort the bereaved beans, sisters, and Impish little brother who have mourned Ba's passing.

Much like Lady Ba, Noelle gets subcutaneous fluids every day for an old-age kidney condition. She was adopted from the Roice Hurst Humane Society, where she had been taken by some people who found her wandering in the cold outside as a stray. Her new siblings and parents are very happy to have her as part of the household.
