How Lady Ba Got Her Name

Lady Ba was adopted from the Roice Hurst Humane Society in spring 2004. At that time, her name was called Sheba.

Her new mom thought this was a fine name, but you have to admit, there are many other kitties named Sheba, but not so many quite as glorious as our Lady!

The Lady's new mother also was a big fan of Mahatma Gandhi of India, and studied his life and times. Hence we learned that Mr. Gandhi's wife was named Kasturba. He called her Ba for short.

The Lady Kasturba must have been very saintly to deal with a saint like Gandhi for a husband. Though he had some great philosophical ideas, we suspect that it must have made for a very interesting, shall we say, family life.

The White Feline Sheba was also very saintly with us when we were less than perfect and working out our ideas in our own lives. Her mom began calling her Ba after Gandhi's wife, and surely the great white Lady is a saint at least, and perhaps more, for we suspect she is an incarnation of the Great Goddess herself.

The Lady Ba also had many other names which we have delineated elsewhere. Nowadays she is known as the Celestial Lady Ba, as she gazes down upon her family from a celestial abode.

The Many Names of Lady Ba

We enjoy reading the blog from Caesar and Princess's Happy Place. Recently, the beautiful Caesar passed away, and along with so many other kitties in the blogosphere we mourn his absence.

Princess has continued to blog, sharing fond memories of her wonderful brother. We enjoy her writing, and we also love to see the pictures. Princess happens to look very much like our own dear departed Lady Ba.

Princess says that Caesar had many different names. The Lady Ba also had a variety of names and titles, some of which we will post here for the benefit of those who would like to request her blessings from the celestial realm!

Noelle's Little Paws

When Princess Noelle joined our household just after Christmas, we weren't sure what color her socks were! She had one on each foot, but were they silver or white!

It appeared that Our Lady's paws were silver-grey, a soft moon-like color. But she had been wandering around outside, in the mud and dirty, melting snow. Her luxurious long hair was full of mats, which it took her new Mom a couple of weeks to remove. It made us all wonder if those paws were just dirty? And maybe they would be white underneath that grey?

Mom tried washing her little paws, not wanting to give her a full bath in the cold winter. This didn't seem to do much to remove the grey color, but Mom said she could see that there was grease in her fur. She trimmed out what she could, which made little Noelle's paws look funny for a while... but there was indeed white underneath!

Now you can look at her little paws and see that they are indeed white!
